A modern day look at Americas war on drugs told through four separate stories that are connected in one way or another. A conservative judge whos just been appointed as the US drug czar learns that his teenage honor student daughter is a drug addict. A beautiful trophy wife struggles to save her wealthy husbands drug business while two DEA agents protect a witness with inside knowledge of the spouses business. In Mexico a slightly corrupt yet dedicated cop struggles with his conscience when he learns that his new boss may not be the antidrug official he made himself out to be.

Review

No compromises here. Traffic takes a long hard look at the narcotics industry in North America and manages to entertain at the same time. The triple plot allows you to see the whole industry with multiple perspectives. The movie is visually stunning loved the different filters for the three locations.

That the war on drugs cannot be won and is hypocritical to boot is a message that needs as much airtime as it can get.
