Review

I was super excited when I heard I got tickets to see this at a free 3D screening. I am a huge scifi fan and I love movies that take place in space. I went in expecting what I had read in other reviews a great scifi thriller. I guess I did not see the same movie as them. I saw a movie with almost nothing to go on except Sandra Bullocks emotions. It relies way too much on the viewer putting themselves in her shoes. She is an incredible actress but just showing her getting emotional and freaking out for an hour and a half is not a good movie. You barely learn anything about the characters. The ending is predictable. The only thing this movie has going for it is the visuals and the sound. The view of Earth and the shuttles and stations look great. This could have been a much better movie. I get that they were probably trying to make it very claustrophobic and wanted you to ride the same stressful and emotional roller coaster as Bullock but it's hard to do when you're sitting in a comfy chair on Earth and barely know a thing about her character. Don't expect an action packed thriller or even a smart scifi that makes you think and you might like it. Really this movie is barely scifi. I'm glad I did not pay to see this.

Bottom line Fairly predictable boring way too often looks great.
