The second war against the Cylons is over and The Twelve Colonies have been destroyed. Now Commander Adama of the Battlestar Galatica and President Laura Roslin lead a ragtag fleet of refugees in a supposed search for the fabled lost thirteenth colony Earth. However the dangers they face are many which compound an already difficult situation. In addition to the Cylons hunting and attacking the fleet in space their infiltrator units carry out a more subtle plot even as their former unwitting pawn Gaius Baltar helps in the hunt for them while hiding both his own guilt and the strange presence that haunts his every thought. If that wasnt enough the fleet also faces internal political conflict in which the rabblerousing figure Tom Zarek is merely the loudest dissenting voice. In the midst of these trials however clues begin to appear that suggest that Adamas simple bluff about Earth may be more truthful than anyone could have guessed.

Review

As a long time fan of the original series of Battlestar Galactica I was apprehensive at best when I heard of the new reimagining. However I always like to keep an open mind and decide for myself not take what the critics say as gospel!

I am very glad I do this!

The new series of Battlestar Galactica is excellent!! Its well directed produced and acted. Its got a new depth and excitement to it. Its visually stunning and has the ability to completely absorb the viewer into each episode. In short its a breath of fresh air!!

I beg other fans of the original series to give it a chance. Okay so Starbuck and Boomer are women so what!! The new Cylons are cool the ships are fantastic the characters are wonderful the relationships are very interesting and as its basis is the original story line theres an oddly comforting familiarity there too. Anyone with doubts should give it a go. It wont disappoint!
